Bert and Tom regroup this week and dive into the horrible fire situation in Los Angeles. Tom recounts how his old house and neighborhood in Pacific Palisades has been completely decimated by the fires and shares that he checked in with old neighbors to see how they were doing. Tom comments that $2 million out of a $5 million potential house rebuild budget could go toward fire proofing houses in the future. Tom speculates that brush and trees will not be allowed in the yards of Pacific Palisades in the future. The pair recounts their struggles while aspiring to purchase a house as they were coming up in their careers. Despite touring on the road for 45 weekends a year, Tom and Christina did not think they could afford a $1.2 million house in Silver Lake.
Bert describes his experience with the recent fires and the contents of his “Go” bag which include an AK-47, knives, pistols, and a chainsaw. Bert says he purchased the chainsaw while high at Home Depot. He also has begun to doubt having trees on his property going forward. His daughter wanted him to save “her cat” and “her lamps” should Bert have to evacuate. Bert shares that he has already started looking in Malibu for properties to buy in the wake of the fires.
